Window on my world!

When I was a little boy I dreamed of being an engine driver;

Driving a train just like this! This picture is from an era long ago, pre-nationalisation just before I was born!! However, the age of steam persevered into the sixties. Nothing seemed to change much back then, well it doesn't when you're only ten!

But I grew up and scenes like this became a thing of the past! Life goes on, progress is made and the world changes. I found it hard to accept all the changes when I was a teenager, growing up was a pretty painful experience! Until I joined the Royal Navy, then I grew up really fast!!

Well if you can't drive a steam locomotive, then you can steam boilers in the Navy! Pretty much the same; only much bigger and it was fun, scary at times but fun. I joined as a 'Boy Stoker' when I was fifteen years old and progressed through my career to retire as a Chief Marine Engineering Mechanic
I served twenty seven years and enjoyed every minute; It was an enjoyable time in my life, one I look back on with fond memories! even though there were times when I didn't think I would make it!!

When I retired from service I got a job as a Cruise Ship Safety Officer. That was fun also and very gratifying; but more about that another time!

I've been lucky in my life, I've travelled the world and seen so many places and met some really nice people, some who are now my dearest friends.

I'll be home as soon as I get this fixed!

Many things have happened since then, I'm now living in Scotland! Let me take you on a quick tour of my pad!

The front door; in fact it's the only door in!

That's it, now you're in, this is the front room; I believe they call this the reception area now!!

Front room strait ahead, bedroom to your right.

Nice bright room in the day time, don't need central heating when the sun shines in here! Kitchen off to the right.

Work station here and window looking out over the Forth. Show you that later.

Just a few more views of the Lounge area!

This is the kitchen, small but practical!

Bathroom - not muich you can say about that!

The bedroom, quite large really!

Bedroom entrance!

Essential kit!

Now get a load of this! The view from my lounge widow; fantastic huh? I love this view it's so interesting and you can see so many changes in the days and seasons!

See what I mean?

This is the view from my front door!

Another view from my window!

Gloria; my wife.

Early one winter morning!

And this is what it's like in winter, a view from the balcony!

The High Street this past winter!!

All iced up here!!

Dawn over the River Forth,

A Winter's morning here!

I sit and watch these scenes for hours sometimes,

They are so fascinating

really; just look at that sky!

Me and my

Granddaughter Molly in Starbucks! (She just passed her driving test, first time too!)

Well, there you are; a brief insite to the window of my world. There's more to come of course! But for now I'll just leave you with these two scenes from yesteryear and bid you good night for now!

Wonder where this is?? Take care and God Bless.  Sean.

 This is for you Mum!
